  • Description:

One of the scarcer variations of the French Gandarmerie flintlock pistols.  This example was built by Piston of Schmalkalden, Germany when this area was under the control of Napoleon. This piece shows the correct 128 mm,  5" barrel . We have cleaned the bore which showed some surface rust. The bore rates a smooth, very good to excellent.   All the metal except for the brass pan remains in its' original bright finish.  All original flint with no replaced parts (other than the rammer).  Sound action .  The wood shows the normal usage marks associated with a service or police weapon. There is a secure usage crack running under the side plate.   Built under French control in Germany.  An overall very good to excellent example. For reference about this scarce pistol see pages 80-82 of "French Military Weapons,1717-1938" by Major James E. Hicks, published by Flayderman &  Co.
