  • Description:

Antique Brown Bess 3rd Model musket with bayonet and scabbard.  This Tower appears to be one of the Canadian militia muskets that were converted to percussion circa 1840's.  This piece shows the original Tower lock with crow GR and broad arrow markings and original 39" barrel with typical bore.  The wood is all original without cracks or breaks, inspector marks in the channel and proofs at the tail of the triggerguard. All brass fixtures appear to be original to the gun. There are no unit markings.  This musket is typical of issue Brown Bess musket from New Brunswick.  There were very few NB musket marked or branded as were the Nova Scotia pieces.  This piece comes with it's original bayonet and scarcer original scabbard.  The scabbard is typical of other NB pieces that we have encountered over the years.  The bayonet shows the contractors name Wheeler and crown proofs.  The bayonet fits the musket perfectly.  The bayonet was one built by Wheeler and crown 29 proofed.  This was one of the makers of the India Pattern bayonets. A nice example of a Colonial Government converted Brown Bess for the New Brunswick militia.
