  • Description:

A semi-unique British Lovell's lug bayonet.  This example shows a 17" blade and a 3" socket.  This bayonet is the 1842-1851 era , built by a number of contracters. This example was built by one of the scarce makers G&E Roe - see page 103 of "British & Commonwealth Bayonets" by Ian Skennerton.  This piece shows the surplus sale mark.  This piece came to us with its' purpose built socket wood hanlel.  This piece shows an iron stud and a rounded base.  This appears to have been built to permit the bayonet to be used as a hand held defensive tool?  Any comments would be appreciated.
