• Description:

  Antique Austrian short rifle.  This percussion military rifle shows a 32" barrel from the muzzle to the breech with a multi groove bore of approximately 73 caliber.  The bore shows overall corrosion but sound heavy rifling.  The overall length is 4' with brass fittings.  The lockplate shows the original Austrian markings removed.  This would suggest that this is one of the approximately 100,000 imported to the U.S. during the Civil War by both sides.  The stock is original showing a very old repair at the wrist contempoary with it's period of use.  Excellent working lock and original sights.  Antique
