  SN 74449 is a special order 1894 with 2 special features.  This rifle is in 38-55 caliber, shows a 1/2 octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore.  This piece also shows a 1/2 magazine.  As per the "The Winchester Handbook", there were only 2671 rifles built with a special short magazine and only 3633 part-round barrels recorded.  The total production of 1894's in 38-55 were 12, 197.  This scarcer rifle show its original sights and approximately 85% original blue on the barrel and sharp markings.  The receiver shows about 85% thinning blue on the frame.  The wood rates as very good plus showing normal usage but with strong trace of original finish .  An excellent example of a 1899 built 1894 rifle.  A collector grade Winchester.  Cody record included.
