• Description:

  SN388 is a very scarce if not rare breech-loading shotgun, built from 1865 to 1871, reference Flayderman's guide 5A-101.  It would appear that there were less than 500 of these breech loaders built.  This example shows the makers name and pattern dates on the center of the breech block.  The barrels show overall smooth grey brown finish.  The bores show slight corrosion but are smooth and appear to be in better than average condition.  The wood and checkering remain in sound condition.  There is a small old repair to the wood just above the trigger group.  This is a very scarce and one of the earliest breech loading shot guns.
