Antique US Springfield Model 1842 musket built and dated 1845. This is a musket from the Mexican war era, the first U.S. regulation percussion musket and the first to be built as a percussion arm. The 42" barrel is dated 1845, VP and eagle head proofs and a very good plus bore with only slight corrosion. The lock shows U.SA. Eagle and Springfield markings. The stock does not show a visable inspector mark but shows a marking on the left butt. 24.8 "overall ,this is a complete and better than average example of the 1842 musket.
