  • Description:

SN 892499 is a WW2 S&W K frame revovler as supplied to the various allies during WW2.  There revolvers are identical to the US victory models but designated the 38/200 British Service revovler.  A number of these revovlers were purchased by Canada during WW2.  A total of 8200 out of an order of 34,090 revolvers were actually delivered.  This revolver is one of the Canadian contraqct revolvers.  it shows the United States property on the top strap, the made in US a marking and the WB U.S. inspectors mark on the butt.  The British acquired revolvers were all British proofed.  The Canadians issued S&W's don't show a proofing other than the US inspector and Ordnance bomb.  The initial group as acquired shoued 5" barrels, the later pieces show 4" barrels.  This exdample shows a bright excellent bore, 98% original blue and case colrs on the hammer and trigger.  The grips are original to the revovler, with the left panel showing the serial number.  Some of the S&W revolvers were marked with the Canadian C broad arrow due to the shortage of small arms at the time many revovlers wer sent to service without markings.  This revolver rides in a typical early WW2 holster built with attachment straps for the Sam Brown officers belt.  An avoce average example for the S&W or The Canadian M<ilitary Collection.
