  • Description:

SN 13440 is A Ross factory built sporting rifle Model R1910.  The top of the 26" barrel is marked 303 Ross R.  The rear sight is one of the Winchester supplied Buckhorn sporting sights.  Some prior owner soldered the adjustable leaf in place (easy to correct). The bore in this sporter rates at very good to very good plus.  The top of the receiver was drilled and taped for mounting a scope mount.  The barrel is marked made in Canada ahead of the serial number.  When this rifle was acquired it showed a crack in the pistol grip(not uncommon for this model, which was stocked with a thin pistol grip). See page 160 of "The Ross Rifle Story" by John Chadwick, et all.  We had the grip pinned from the top and bottom.  It was further secured with an extra strength epoxy.  As with any rifle built with the M-10 action, we suggest that it be examined by a licensed gunsmith and test fired prior to use.  This example shows obvious use but remains in sound condition as an example of the Model R. Ross rifle.
