  • Description:

SN 95L 7745 is an exceptional example of a 1950 production Long Branch 303 caliber rifle.  It is purported that this rifle came out of the old Long Branch facility when it was closed in the 1970's.  This may well be the case as there are no proof marks on the bolt or receiver other than an old OCP proof on the tail under the bolt handle.  The metal shows the Parkerized finish with the C No 4 Mk1* and 1950 date. The bolt is blued with a crossed of 1 and a No 0 mark.  The face and body of the bolt show no usage or firing marks. There are a few Canadian Ca marks on the various parts.  This rifle shows the multi groove bore and was one of the barrels built on the Bren Gun barrel machine at Long Branch.  The bore or feed ramp show no usage marks.  The rifle is stocked in Canadian birch.  The wood remains in excellent condition marked L on the top and LB C broad arrow on the pistol grip. Sources indicated that the arsenal tried various stockings including birch.  The rifle is mounted with a Canadian sling in new condition marked Z.L & T Ltd 1942 C broad arrow ink marked.  There is little doubt that this rifle was in the reference collection at Long Branch.
