  Colt conversion unit.  This is a post war 22-45 "Conversion Unit" as marked on the slide.  This unit remains in excellent plus condition with 99% original blue.  See page 446 of "The Book of Colt Firearms" by Sutherland/Wilson.  The unit comes in it's original box with factory instructions and descriptions.  This unit can be used on the 45 or 38 super pistols of the era.  The 4 page factory sheet is dated 8-48.  An excellent complete example in it's sound original box.  A nice accessory for the Colt 1911 collector.
