  • Description:

SN 4595 is an 1896 dated Enfield Long Lee which was part of the Canadian contract of 40,000 rifles purchased for the Canadian militia.  This example is one of the 18,850 rifles as built by Enfield. (Page 103 "Defending the Dominion "by Edgecombe) .This example shows a bright very good to excellent bore with light corrosion.  The metal shows a mix of original blue and blue/grey finish on the barrel with clear markings and no pitting.  The original volley sights and chained magazine remain in place.  The wood shows old cleaning with an Enfield roundel on the right of the butt and the ghost of the M & D. Note- The forewood is all original but not to this rifle.  It would appear to be an armory replacement from an earlier rifle.
