British Pattern 1796 Light Cavalry Sword By Woolley

    1796 Light Cavalry Officers sword built by Wooley & Co.  This example shows an excellent 32 1/2" blade. Both sides of the blade base show etching.  The left shows the maker Woolley & Co. George III crown.  The right shows the Stand of Arms, etc. Iron hilt with leather cover and steel wire.  The blade shows stain spotting and very light pitting.  The grips show a crack on the left and two wraps of wire missing.  The blade shows service sharpening.  This piece rides in its original wrought iron scabbard which remains in very good to excellent condItion.  The Wooley & Co. markings remain on the left side of the scabbard. This sword is very tight and perfectly fits the scabbard. A Napoleonic era piece.
