American Arms Co. Semi Hammerless - 12 Gauge

  • Maker: American Arms
  • Model: Shotgun
  • Caliber/Gauge: 12ga

  • Description:

The American Arms Company semi-hammerless was produced in Boston Mass. from 1882-1893 and Vlufftown, Ala. from 1893-1901. This example, serial #921, was probably manufactured, or at least sold, after the company's move to Alabama. It has 28" barrels with a wide, flat rib marked AMERICAN ARMS CO/PAT MARCH 21, 82, MAY 29, 83. The left lock is marked, SEMI-HAMMERLESS, TRADE MARK. The barrels are clean and bright inside with the exterior showing a pleasing brown patina to the Damascus twist pattern. The locks and frame show case coloring faded to a pleasing brown shade. The nicley-figured wood is strong with only 2 small chips on the butt immediately behind the frame, presumably caused by recoil. The semi-pistol grip is checkered while the forend is not. The gutta-percha butt plate is marked AMERICAN ARMS COMPANY /BLUFFTOWN, ALABAMA in an oval surrounding an American eagle about to take flight. There is a deep chip out of one side of the butt plate. An uncommon double shot gun. Non Restricted .
