A. Waters 1816 Musket Converted to Percussion

    U.S. Model 1816 musket built by A Waters.  Caliber 69 in a 42" barrel.  This example is the third type with the lock marked U.S. over A. Waters and the tail marked Millbury over 1830 date.  This musket was converted to percussion using the "Belgian Alteration" converted in the 1850's (see Flayderman Page 456).  These muskets were issued to militia units.  Some of these converted muskets saw service in the early stages of the Civil War.  A sound piece with a shootable bore, sound metal and wood .
