Winchester 1886 Lightweight Rifle

Winchester 1886 SN 152833 built late 1912 as per Madis. This rifle shows a 24" rapid tapered barrel in 33 WCF with a bright very good to excellent bore. 1/2 mag, shotgun butt and overall sound and original condition. The metal shows an overall grey/blue original finish with clear crisp markings. The action is smooth and tight. The sights are original to the rifle. The wood is original with trace of original finish and no breaks or cracks. The right side of the butt shows an oval outline where a compass was mounted by a prior owner. This rifle would be an excellent shooter or an addition to a Winchester collection. A similar 24" rapid tapered 1886 is pictured in Madis with the hard rubber shotgun buttplate, at page 348 of the Winchester book. This rifle was built in 1914 at the very start of WW1 and the expansion of military production by Winchester.As per Madis,there were only 911 Model 1886 rifles built in 1914.
