  • Description:

SN 4252 is a WW1 Webley .455 MK 1 (N) pistol.  This excellent example remains in better than average condition and is one of only 7350 pistols acquired by the Royal Navy.  These Webley pistols were mostly issued to the Royal Marines who were attached to all principal navy warships.  These pistols saw service in the Defence of Antweep and Gallipoli.  These pistols were declared obsolete by the Admiralty in 1921.  This example remains in above average condition, built in 1914 and so marked on the slide and proofs.  This piece retains 90% of its' original blue finish.  It is all matching with clear markings and excellent original grips.  The bore shows overall corrosion associated with corrosive ammunition and its service history.  Despite the above, this pistol is a very scarce example of a WW1 automatic.  A piece for the Webley or British Military collector.
