US Model 1803 Flintlock Rifle Dated 1818

1818 dated example that shows a 36" barrel, correct front and rear sights and the correct clear barrel proofs. This is a later production rifle that was converted to percussion. This piece shows the correct but converted lock and all of the correct brass furniture. The wood remains in better than average condition with the remnants of the inspector mark on the left stock flat. Unfortunately, at some time the 50 caliber barrel was bored out to 20 gauge. The smooth bore rated excellent . This model of Harpers Ferry is a sought after item by many collectors. This example would be an ideal candidate for re-conversion The barrel could be relined or a rifled barrel could be obtained from Track of the Wolf. A scarce US piece. Antique status.
