  • Description:

Canadian issue Short Snider rifle.  This BSA rifle was built and dated 1872 and was one of the rifles sent directly to Canada.  All original BSA parts.  The finish is an overall blue/brown with clear markings and little, if any, corrosion.  The bore rated very good plus, bright with slight corrosion and strong shootable rifling.  The wood shows normal service marks but rates very good to excellent.  DC marked and #38 unit mark with issue No 247 on the tang. This rifle is mounted with an original heavy buff leather sling and original rod.  This rifle comes with an original bayonet and scabbard.  The blade rates excellent.  The pommel is crudely marked 38 issue #244.  3 guns removed from the rifle #247. This rifle appears to have been issued to the 38th Battalion of infantry based out of Brantford ,Ontario and was probably issued to one of the Battalion sergeants.  A very good example of a Canadian issue Snider rifle from the Fenian era.
