Snider MK III Cavalry Carbine

• Description:

  SN 188 is an excellent example of a Snider MKIII carbine.  This piece shows a bright excellent 577 caliber bore, in the steel MKIII barrel.  It is mounted with the correct sights and shows an overall blue/plum finish.  The action shows no areas of corrosion.  Excellent finish and strong markings.  The lock remains in excellent condition with VR cypher and the 1871 date.  The wood remains in above average condition with typical cavalry spur markings on the right side of the butt and a clear Enfield roundel.  A mechancially sound, shotable example.  Note there is no D.C. marking so it was not issued to the Canadian militia.  This begs the question as to whether it may be one of the large group of unrecorded police carbines.
