  • Description:

SN A2904 is a Marlin 12 gauge Model 17-S shotgun.  This model was Marlin's answer to the Winchester Model 1897.  Page 366 of the "Marlin Firearms" by Brophy indicates that also were some model 17-S marked guns, about which little is known with the 1889 to 1904 patent dates.  There were only about 3150 of this variation produced as per the above reference.  This example shows 80 to 90% original finish, sound wood and a bright excellent bore.  Note:the blue book notes a shooting warning on slide action exposed hammer Marlin shotguns re factory 1998 recommending that they not be fired . We provide this information for safety sake.  We advise that any earlier firearms be checked by a licensed gunsmith as to usage and loads.  A very scarce shotgun  for the Marlin collector.
