• Description:

  This is a hard to find Marlin Model 1881 rifle barrel chambered in 40-65.  Octagon barrel is 28" with a good bore showing strong rifling and light pitting...running towards moderate pitting at the breech end.  Top barrel flat has the 3 rd type of Marlin address...please see Brophy MARLIN FIREARMS page 150 and the breech end is simply marked "40 CAL".  Barrel is serial numbered 9025.  Exterior has an old reblued finish now turning to a plum & brown patina with some fine scratches and pinpricks of pitting.  The two dovetails at the muzzle end are a bit dinged up on the edges...the two breech end dovetails are much cleaner.
