  • Description:

Antique Irish 10 gauge percussion shotgun built by Irish gun maker, Dowling of Dublin (Henry Dowling) 1838-1875.  This back action lock example shows typical Irish engraving which has a semi Celtic appearance. Both Dolphin head hammers are original to the piece.  This example shows the long extended butt plate, top and button engraved tangs.  The barrels remain in the original 30" configeration with the wide maker marked rib and platinum plugs.  The bores show overall typical black powder corrosion but are sound. The wood is sound with worn smooth checkering.  A less than common Irish built shotgun.
