  Dragoon Musket Model 1777 was built from 1777 to 1818 and was issued and used by various units from Dragoons to Light Infantry, mounted and artillery units  This example was built at Liege as per the lock markings.  The tang is marked Md. A.N.G.-see "French Military Small Arms", Vol. 1 at page 81 (Mowbray).  This excellent example shows a 40 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore and correct brass and iron fittings.  The breech shows a barrel date of 1810.  A less common musket in sound original condition (metal & wood).  Note: the rod has been shortened by approximately 5 1/2" .  An excellent Napoleonic Wars piece.
