French 1822 flintlock pistol converted to percussion in the 1840's.  The lock is a percussion lock built at St. Etienne at the time of conversion. At a later point in time the barrel was bored out to approximately 74 caliber and had a muzzle ring brazed on.  The piece shows the French #124 on the left side of the barrel.  The 1822 Model remains on the strap behind the rear sight.  This pistol may have seen naval usage or use by another nation following the French issue.
