  • Description:

A double barrel 45 caliber percussion pistol built by Needler of Hull England circa 1845.  This maker originated in London and moved his business to Hull.  The barrels are rotated by hand.  The barrels are 3 1/4" with an overall length of the pistol at 7 1/2" .  The barrel unit was built from a one piece iron bar.  When the top barrel was fired you cock the hammer and quickly rotate the barrel unit to the left to provide the 2nd shot.  The barrels are individually proofed.  The receiver, trigger guard, cap cover and muzzle show fine hand engraving.  This piece shows all original parts and is mechanically sound.  The fine hand checkering on the grip is best described as impressive.  There is an unmarked silver escutcheon on the spine of the grip and an engraved cap box on the butt.  The makers name and Hull are engraved on the top tang.  The finish of this pistol is all original but dulling with age. An excellent example with smooth original bores.  Not a common pistol.
