Enfield Snider MKIII 577 Carbine

• Description:

  SN4811 is an intersting Snider MKIII Cavalry Carbine.  This example shows a bright excellent bore, 90% dull blue on the barrel and clear sharp markings,#4811 on the breech block and the rear sight.  This example shows the original leather sight cover and sound original wood showing the Enfield roundel.  The left side of the butt shows markings M.F.B. over sub Div over No 1.  We can't as yet identify these markings.  The serial number 4811 falls in the range of the partial list of NWMP carbines 4703 and 4752 on the low side and 4836 &4884 on the high side. There are no DC markings on the wood and typical spur marks both consistant with NWMP carbines. We can't speculate as to who this carbine was issued to.  Any thoughts from our readers would be appreciated.  Otherwise this is a sound example of a MKIII carbine showing obvious service use but in sound condition.
