- Description:
NSN is a single Travelling Percussion pistol built by one of the best English makers,Durs Egg, London. This defensive pistol shows a 5 1/4" barrel of approximately 64 caliber. Mounted to the barrel is a captive rod. The pistol is a less common English back action lock. The pistol is overall 11" with a bag style of checkered grip. The stock shows most of its' original finish. The lockplate, hammer, tang and triggerguard show scrowl engraving .The barrel shows a Damascus brown finish, mounted with a basic front and rear sight with two platinum bands. Durs Egg was known as one of the great English gun makes (1748-1831). This pistol was probably built at the very end of his career or by his son John who traded as Durs Egg (executor) at 1 pall mall 1832-1837. Regardless, this piece is rather plain but is an example of the later work of Durs Egg. This was probably one of a pair of pistols intended for defence.
