  • Description:

SN 73250 is an exceptional example of a Colt factory cut away revolver built in 1914.  This revolver is one of only 60 cut aways, built as per the factory records.  In addition to the rarity of this item it remains in "as new "unfired condition.  The cylinder face, barrel cone, firing pin and frame show no evidence of firing or rebound marks. The bore can only be described as mint.  The bright, high polish Colt finish remains at 99% due to some slight tarnish to one of the cylinder panels.  The hard rubber grips remain in excellent plus condition and are both numbered to the revolver.  All markings are clear and crisp. The frame is devoid of marking due to the cuts.  It can be noted that these revolvers were cut in a manner to permit the revolver to be fired if so desired.  The original owners records indicated the existance of a factory letter.  Unfortunately, the records were misplaced by the time we acquired the collection.  A number of these rare Colts appear on the net.  In addition, page 382 of the Sutherland" Book of Colt Firearms" references the 60 skeletonized or cut away Police Positives as being a variation of notable scarcity.  A scarce Colt for the Colt collection.  Prohib status in Canada.
