• Description:

  Sn 388441 is an all original 1918 Colt 1911 Black Army pistol.  This is an excellent example of this 1911 variation as built mid 1918.  This example shows the coarse wartime finish that gave rise to the term "Black Army".  This example remains in its original configuration as manufactured.  The barrel shows the correct P H proofs.  The bore rates as very good plus with sound rifling and slight corrosion between the grooves.  All markings are crisp with the model of 1999 I.S. Army on the slide and the eagle head S12 ordnance acceptance mark on the right side of the frame.  Reference see pages 11 and 74 of "Colt: 45 Service Pistols" by Charles W. Clawson and page 383 of standard catalog of military firearms 8th edition.  A very good plus example of a late WW1 Colt 1911.  Restricted status.
