  • Description:

William Tranter double-trigger 3rd Model persussion revolver.  This example shows a 6 5/8" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This revolver was built circa 1858. The frame and barrel base shows light scroll engraving .  This revolver was built to take lubricated bullets, 54 Bore (approx 45 caiber).  This example is mechanically sound.  The finish is typical English of the era, with some old added blue on the barrel edges.  This Tranter comes in its original pistol case that was relined many years ago.  The case shows the original tools, unpolished brass mold with 54 markled spur, original cleaning rod with extraction jag.  The correct Dixon powder flask marked James Dixon, Sheffield.  The body of the flask show a usage dent on one side.  Also included is the ebony nipple wrench with clearing pin.  The case is correct and original with brass escutcheon and no cracks or breaks.  The interior of the cover shows the remnants of a W. Tranter label.  An overall very good to excellent example of a double trigger percussion revolver.  For reference see pages 245 & 246 of "The Revolver 1818-1865"  by Taylerson.
