  • Description:

Cased Joseph Bentley open-frame percussion revolver.  This revolver is approximately 40 caliber, in a 5" barrel with a sound rifled bore.  The barrel shows most of its' original blue with obvious age and minor freckling.  The cylinder shows remnants of original blue.  The grips remain in excellent condition with sharp checkering.  This Bentley rides in its original casing with original accessories.  This includes a Bartram & Co Flask, mold, oil bottle and rod. The case is named to a retailer, Robert Jones of Liverpool circa 1830-1890.  The case remains in sound condition with its original liner showing its' obvious age and usage stains.  The revolver functions and is complete with the exception of the hammer mounted safety catch that prevented contact with the nipples in the loading process.  The button for the catch remains in the case.  See page 21 of "The Webley Revolver" by Bruce and page 35 of "The Webley Story" by William Dowell.  A simple fix if desired. Overall ,it is very uncommon to find any cased Bentley.  A piece for the English revolver or Webley fan.  Antique, no license required to purchase or own.
