  • Description:

Brown Bess flint lock Musket Pattern 1793 (India Pattern Type 1). This above average 3rd Model Brown Bess shows a storekeepers mark dated 1800 on the right side of the butt, on the left is the broad arrow and Bo mark.  The metal on this example remains in"the white" as originally built, the 39" barrel in above average condition.  The bore is sound and shootable with normal  corrosion. When we acquired this musket it was fully charged but now empty.  The tang shows a clear crown over 14 Ordnance Inspector's mark. The original lock in this musket remains in above average condition, deep clear markings Tower, crown GR, crown broad arrow.  The lock appears to have been replaced at some time.  The barrel shows a clear crown over 18 1/2 of an inch forward of the touch hole.  The wood remains in overall above average condition with no breaks, cracks or repairs and clear deep inspector marks.  The rod is a replacement.  This musket is fitted with an original bayonet. The bayonet shows crown over 6 inspectors mark and K & A makers mark.  The fit of the bayonet to the barrel is perfect.  A great example.
