British 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword. This example shows a hilt of firu-gilt brass, with fish-skin grip bound with three gilt wires. The blade is 31" from the shoulder to the point. The overall length is 38 1/2" . The maker or retailer is marked J Jones 6 Regent St. London. The blade shows the Victoria cartouches. The blade rates very good plus with some slight storage pitting towards the point. This sword rides in a brass scabbard with two brass rings . The sword weighs 2 lbs. The scabbard 1.2 lbs. The scabbard shows some minor usage dents . The sword sits in the scabbard with a sound tight fit. An excellent example of a British Infantry Officer's fighting sword from the post 1832 era.
