This example is a rather scarce 1854 Austrian Jager-Stuzen converted to cartridge to become the Model 1854/67 .  This unique short rifle shows the muzzle turned down 4 1/4" to take the Austrian sword/socket bayonet.  The 25 1/2" barrel shows a bright excellent .54 caliber 4 groove barrel.  The barrel is mounted with a unique curved leaf grasshopper rear sight graduated to 1200.  This example shows the original mounted ramrod and the unique Wanzl conversion to cartridge.  This remains in very good to excellent "In the Bright" finish.  The tang shows L. Bentz(Maker)The wood on this unique rifle remains in sound original condition showing the various proof and inspector marks.  The buttplate shows unit marks 1L.V.D. over 2380.  This example is a very uncommon antique rifle to be found in Canada.  The conversion followed the idea as established by the Snider conversion in England and the Allin "Trapdoor" in the USA.  A very collectible antique military rifle.
