  • Description:

SN A4509 is an interesting Enfield Martini Carbine .  This piece was originally buit in 1882 as a MK Artillery Carbine in 577-400.  Converted by H.R.B. Co in 1898 to 303 Metford and later converted to .303 Enfield.  This piece shows an overall grey petina finish with matching sight and barrel  The Enfield bore shows overall pitting but appears to be shootable.  The piece is mechanically sound with a tight smooth action .  The wood shows service usage but is very sound, with clear stamping and has not been sanded.  This piece was issued to the 7th Lancashire Artillery as marked on the disk.  At a later date this carbine was sent to Newfoundland (then a British Colony) It may have then been issued to a costal artillery unit and later reissued to one of the NFLD Cadet or Boy's brigade units.  A better than average example.
